GM industry to legalize cannibalism - puts human gene in rice


hmm, succulent human liver genes...

Japanese researchers have inserted a gene from the human liver into rice to enable it to digest pesticides and industrial chemicals. - The UK Independent

For the most part I've not been too concerned about genetically modified foods. Viewing it as similar to grafting I've subscribed to the view the Economist has held for a number of years. However, genetically grafting cacti into maize is one thing, genetically grafting humans into rice is quite another.
